Søstjerneskolen – a place where children can thrive
I have created Søstjerneskolen because I want all children – regardless of previous experiences or challenges – to have the opportunity to experience mastery, well-being, and joy in learning. The school is for children who have had difficulty finding their place in other schools, and where it has been important to find an approach that focuses on the child as a human being rather than solely on diagnoses or tests.
At Søstjerneskolen, children are worked with warmth, curiosity, and respect for diversity. The school aims to create an environment where students can feel safe, understood, and seen – and where their strengths, interests, and personality are central.
The goal is for daily life at the school to be predictable, safe, and meaningful, while also giving students the opportunity to take small steps towards independence and development. I believe that being listened to and understood makes a big difference for all students’ well-being – and that small daily victories create self-confidence and joy in learning.
My experience tells me that when children are met with understanding rather than pressure, motivation, joy, and development emerge, extending far beyond the classroom. Therefore, work is done with both education and emotional support, so that each student can develop at their own pace, without losing energy or self-esteem.
I myself am no longer part of the school’s daily life, but will always be connected to the life and soul of Søstjerneskolen.
